This more-contemporary style house, was moved from south Rockhampton to north Rockhampton in two pieces. It was relocated from a block where the front of the house was at ground level, and the back was high set. Upon moving to the new block, the reverse was the case, where the front was highset and the back at ground level.
The inside sheeting was removed and fully replastered. We discovered hardwood studs every 400mm in the walls – something we’ve never encountered before and a real find! A new roof was installed. The bathroom was gutted, taking out the bath and replacing it with a shower only. The kitchen was kept as the cabinetry was in good condition, so new handles were installed, lighting, new oven/rangehood and dishwasher. A front deck was added off the main bedroom which features amazing large glass sliding doors framed in timber. Both front decks had vertical timber balustrade built to create features on the front façade. A new stairwell was added at the back of the house, which is a real feature of the renovation.
This house came together beautifully, and the renovation result was a winner!
