What are Screw Piles?
Screw Piles, also known as screw piers or steel screw piles, are deep foundation solutions used to support structures. These piles are made from steel and are screwed into the ground, providing stable and durable support buildings and other structures. They are a popular alternative to traditional concrete piling methods.
Concrete bored piers have long been utilised as a piling solution for hundreds of years. While they may be a time-proven solution, modern-day steel helical piers or Screw Piles are a far less expensive and cumbersome option.
Types of Screw Piles
There are several types of screw piles to suit different applications. Residential screw piles are made with smaller diameter shafts, typically ranging from 76 to 114mm and are ideal for homes and light structures.
Commercial screw piles are designed using larger, stronger pipes and are used for larger buildings and commercial projects. Regardless of the application, all screw piles are custom designed to accommodate the unique loads of the structure and soil conditions of the project, ensuring that all specific needs are met.
Screw Pile Foundation
Screw pile foundations are screwed into the ground, ensuring a secure and reliable foundation. Screw pile foundations are ideal for residential, commercial, and industrial projects due to their quick installation, minimal ground disturbance, and immediate load-bearing capabilities.
Screw Pile Footings
Screw pile footings are a critical component in the construction of buildings and other structures. These footings consist of steel screw piles that are driven deep into the ground, providing a stable and strong base. Unlike traditional concrete footings, screw pile footings can be installed quickly and do not require extensive excavation. This makes them an efficient choice for projects with tight schedules or challenging site conditions.
Our Supplier
Since 2007, Blade Piles have invented, tested and developed the most efficient screw piling system available. From the smallest details in mechanical design through to the installation and load capacity calculations of screw piles, Blade Piles have refined every step in the process.
Our screw piles are Australian made at Blade Pile’s factory in Yatala, QLD and proudly utilise high grade, Australian rolled pipe supplied from local mills.
