Aurizon Job

The demolition of Rockhampton’s AC Railway Shed for Aurizon was a large project, taking four months to complete the job from May to August 2020. The job started with the removal of all of the asbestos from the building that was 250m in length, 18m wide and 7m tall.

Over 300 9m 7×3 seasoned hardwood lengths were extracted and recycled. All the windows and tin were removed and also recycled. Finally, the railway pits in the building were all back-filled.

This demolition was part of the first stage of the redevelopment of the Rockhampton railyards. The railway site has heritage overlays and is on the Environmental Management Register.
